Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) at the University of los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia) is searching for applicants to fill a full-time Assistant Professor position by spring 2022. A minimum of a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required (the Ph.D. must be completed by the employment start date). The Department has a particular interest in applicants interested in the areas of energies or emerging areas of mechanical engineering, including, but not limited to: I4.0, autonomous systems, digital manufacturing, IIoT, 3D printing, etc.
The selected candidate is expected to promote new perspectives and research approaches at DME through collaborative research in partnership with one or more faculty. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for developing new courses, contributing to a range of courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs, advising students at the undergraduate and graduate level, and participating in the typical functions of the department.
Preference will be placed on applicants with interest or experience in project development in Energy or Mechanical Engineering related areas, knowledge integration, and previous teaching experience. The candidate must show sufficient command of Spanish (candidates whose working language is English with an intermediate level of Spanish will be accepted).

Salary range from $2100 to $2300 USD per month (at the market representative rate calculated on Monday Oct 4)
